VOICEMAIL BY EMAIL

Why should a voice message be any different from other mail?

When you choose the voice-to-email option to have all your voice messages forwarded to your email address. This option is sometimes called "unified messaging" because it allows you to consolidate all your messages (voice, emails, fax) in your computer inbox. Voicemail messages arrive in your email in-box as standard emails with an attachment. Depending on your computer settings when you double click on the attachment, the message plays on your computer providing it is equipped for sound. These messages can then be permanently saved and archived, or deleted, just like any other email.

Depending on your rate plan you can choose to have the voice-mails automatically removed after a set period. This is done so that your telephone mailbox does not get cluttered when you are primarily using your computer to retrieve your messages. Messages in your email inbox can be stored as long as you want.
